Take it slow...

Good news, folks. Those of us staying at home have done the system some good. Numbers have fallen drastically, we are ahead of the projected modules, and the economy is looking to open back up. Slowly.
Kay Ivey delivered her weekly briefing this afternoon around 11am. She stated that the social distancing and stay at home orders have provided relief for our healthcare workers by not overwhelming hospitals. That is good.
Dr. Harris, our lead medical cat in the Alabama Whitehouse, also stated that we haven't yet reached our peak in deaths. Alabama will see it's death toll rise over the next six days, and the amount of people in hospitals will also near it's peak in correlation.
However, talk of slowly opening the economy is in the works. Ivey stated that the limitations for retail would not be the same as those for restaurants and bars, but she is eager to get our citizens back to work.
What do we do?
Well, nothing will be back to a normal sense of functioning for a while. It is a tough pill to swallow, but is what has to be done in order to ensure the safety of our fellow citizens. Social distancing, as well as the use of PPE, are going to be part of everyday life for some time to come.
At first, I was on board with shutting down absolutely everything until the smoked cleared. As bad as it sucks to say, that is not a feasible option in order to keep American as strong as it can be.
Granted, both of my parents have pre-existing conditions that make them prime candidates to not survive COVID-19. That sucks, and I fear for their safety every time they leave the house. But, with proper precautionary steps, they can live their lives in a somewhat normal sense.
Bars and restaurants are a staple in my livelihood. I work in bars four nights a week, and I used to eat out every meal. These industries will be hit the hardest, and will more than likely be some of the last things reopened in our state.
However, Ivey stated that she has assembled a team of legislators to figure out the best way to get the state function back in a normal sense. But, "normal" has changed for good. Hopefully, those in charge can figure out regulations that get our service industry folks back to work.
We are doing good, folks. It sucks that we are letting an invisible enemy control our day to day function, but it's something we have no control over. But, we can fight it the best by still following CDC guidelines, keeping our distance from one another, and limiting our trips in public.
Here in Walker County, people have been continuing to live their lives as if nothing has happened. Fast food lines are wrapped around the stores, Walmart looks like Christmas Eve, and folks are packing in Home Depot like sardines. Yo, CUT THAT SHIT OUT.
We received a D- in following the government mandated orders, according to Google. Yes, they have been tracking your ass. No, there isn't anything you can do about. Yes, you are part of the problem. The Government is only "taking away your freedom" because you're acting too stupid to keep it... Hence the shelter in place/stay at home order.
If you guys are eager to "get these folks back to work," stay your ass at home as much as possible. "Some of us have to work and pay bills." Yeah, no kidding. No where in the stay at home order does it say not to go to work. I envy anyone who hasn't lost their job to this pandemic. But, just because you're still working doesn't mean take a leisurely stroll through the Wallmarks and then invite your buddies over to play cards.
Man, I appreciate all the essential workers during this time of crisis. From fast food employees to ER Doctors to cashiers at grocery stores. You guys are heroes. Thank you for all you.
