Wrestlemania was incredible.

It's been extremely tough living in a world with no sports. The majority of my time that was spent watching sports has been spent in a deep state of depression. We should be gearing up to watch one of the better playoffs in NBA history. But, the 'Roni had other plans for professional sporting events, and so did the billion dollar brain of Vince McMahon.

Wrestlemania is what we as pro-wrestling fans know as the grandest stage of them of all. Last year, Wrestlemania housed 82,000 in Met-Life stadium, located in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This year's event was scheduled to take place in Tampa Bay, but had to be held at the WWE/NXT performance center in Orlando.

You would think that a sporting event with no crowd would be something that changed the dynamic of the entertainment value. It did. The crowd reaction when you hear you favorite wrestler's theme hit can send chills down your spine. But, the WWE superstars did their best to give us as fans the full Mania experience, and we are very grateful for their contribution to our quarantine.

Vince and the production racked their brains on how to still provide a quality product given the circumstances. We saw big names do big things, and the reaction was well received in the wrestling community. Here are some of my main takeaways from the wrestling super bowl filmed in an empty arena.

Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins

Personally, I am a huge fan on both of these guys, and think they are two of the best in the business. Rollins recent heel turn has given him heat amongst fans, and he has used it to his advantage. Owens has always been a guy who delivers, and his huge spot during the last portion of the match had me and the boys hyped in our Zoom meeting.

The match was still everything I could've asked for without the reaction of the fans. Why? These two guys are entertainers from the mic work to the ring work, and are somewhat reliant on crowd interaction to spice up their matches. Owens finally got his big Wresltemania moment he deserved, and Rollins putting him over was like a tip of the cap to his hard work.

Edge Vs. Randy Orton (Last Man Standing Match)

WHAT YEAR IS IT? The younger fan in me was absolutely ecstatic to see these two superstars collide on the biggest stage of them all. Of course, the crowd reaction to their biggest spots would've made the match 10x better, but the amount of effort these two 40+ year-olds put into making this match was everything I wanted.

I cried a little bit when Edge returned at the Rumble. Much like Austin and the Rock, the Rated R Superstar instilled a little bit of my attitude in me that carried over into my DJ persona. Seeing Edge come back, and the sheer emotion coming out of him after the match, left me very satisfied with the performance. THANK YOU EDGE! THANK YOU EDGE! THANK YOU EDGE!

Goldberg(c.) vs. Braun Strowman (WWE Universal Championship)

This match was supposed to originally be Goldberg vs Roman Reigns, but with his recent battle with Leukemia less than a year ago, WWE allowed the Big Dog to stay home to avoid health complications. I was looking forward to seeing him take back the title he vacated due to health issues.

Goldberg was my absolute favorite during '90s era WCW. I remember seeing him at WCW Thursday Night Thunder in Birmingham when I was a kid in 1997....23 some-odd years ago. Granted the man is still absolutely jacked, but he is way past his prime. I hope they had extra lysol on hand after this match because it stunk up the entire performance center.

Braun Strowman is my guy. Ive been riding with him since he came into the business, but I hated to see him get the strap in an empty arena. He has been a dominate force for quite some time, and to see his title reign begin with a victory of Goldberg really hurt some feelings in the pro-wrestling community.

Rhea Ripley(c.) vs. Charolette Flair (NXT Women's Championship)

This was a very fun match to watch between two extremely athletic Superstars. Charolette Flair is in the running for one of the better entertainers in the business. Her style matches that of her father, and she can compete with the best of them. In fact, Rhonda Rousey owes her WWE success to Charolette because Rousey was the worst thing I've seen in WWE since the Blue Meanie.

Ripley entered the match as the NXT champion and was super cocky. Flair dominated to take back her NXT title after winning the Women's Royal Rumble earlier in the year. To no surprise, Charolette's insane athletic ability lead to their match stealing that part of the show, and her regaining the NXT Women's Championship.

Undertaker vs. AJ Styles (Boneyard Match)

Taker has the longest undefeated streak in Mania history. I nearly swore off the product as a whole when the streak ended in New Orleans at Wrestlemania XXX. Then when he lost to Roman Reigns in at Wrestlemania XXXIII I was for sure done. But this match restored my faith in creative, and showed us Taker still had the juice.

The match took place in a graveyard, and had a higher production value than any Mania match ever. AJ Style's heel turn has made him a much more enjoyable character in the recent months. The match was filled full of special effects and plot twists that kept us all entertained from start to finish. Taker still has what it takes to do his thing, and can run a backhoe pretty good too.

Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena (Firefly Funhouse Match)

In the words of Vince McMahon, "This is good shit!" I have never seen anything like this match in my twenty plus years of watching professional wrestling. This is what showed us that WWE can take the product, no matter the circumstances, and entertain us as wrestling fans.

John Cena is one of the best to ever do it on the mic. Bray Wyatt has one of the better creative minds the sport has ever seen. The combination of the two gave us possibly the best thing the company has ever done. The way the production surrounded the flashback on Cena's career was bittersweet for me. It was the perfect way to put the current era of John Cena to bed, but also blow the minds of those at home.

Overall, this is one of the best Wrestlemania's I have watched in recent years- if not the best one to date. The product had gotten stale to those of us in the wrestling community, but it was a chance for the company to reinvent the dynamic of how it is consumed. The production and delivery came about in a different way with it being taped in an empty arena. Leave it to Vince to use a global pandemic to give us his best work in years.
